BEDFORD, Mass. (Sept. 9, 2024) — The Dodge Momentum Index (DMI), issued by Dodge Construction Network, increased 2.9% in August to 220.4 from the revised July reading of 214.2. Over the month, commercial planning expanded 1.9% and institutional planning improved 5.7%.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 3, 2024) — National nonresidential construction spending decreased 0.2% in July, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) analysis of data published today by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $1.21 trillion.

WASHINGTON (Aug. 13, 2024) — Construction input prices increased 0.4% in July compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index data released today. Nonresidential construction input prices also increased 0.4% for the month.
LIVERMORE, Calif. (Aug. 19, 2024) — Topcon Positioning Systems has announced that Ray O’Connor, president and CEO, will retire in September 2025 after over three decades of leadership. O’Connor will transition to the role of chairman of the Topcon Positioning Systems board of directors effective Sept. 1, 2024, providing guidance and support to the executive leadership team during this year of transition.
RACINE, Wis. (Aug. 14, 2024) — CASE Construction Equipment has expanded its electric (EV) toolbox for municipal crews, utility teams, urban construction and other contractors with the commercial release of its 580EV, the industry’s first electric backhoe loader. CASE’s EV backhoe loader will soon be followed by the commercial availability of two additional EV machines — the CX25EV 2.5-metric ton mini excavator and the CL36EV 3.6-metric ton compact wheel loader.

CLEVELAND (July 31, 2024) — CBIZ Inc. a national provider of financial, insurance and advisory services, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the non-attest business of Marcum LLP, which will make CBIZ the seventh-largest accounting services provider in the U.S. with approximately $2.8 billion in annual revenue.

WASHINGTON (Aug. 2, 2024) — The construction industry added 25,000 jobs on net in July, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) analysis of data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment has expanded by 239,000 jobs, an increase of 3.0%.
